Njáll gets to pay up fines for other people's doings again. Here's the funny thing again: Ketill, Þráinn's brother is also Njáll's son-in-law after marrying his daughter, Þorgerða. Seriously, don't they have any other neighbours?

Ketill adopts Höskuldur, Þráinn's son, and then Njáll adopts him again. Not confusing.

Flosi yadda yadda had a brother wait had more, married someone or at least so it would seem, one of his brothers had a daughter who's apparently the Icelandic ideal by being proud, grim and hard-hearted and besides that, pretty and skillful with her hands. Hope her deathcount at least is lighter than some other ladies previously mentioned in this saga.

We meet Miss Grimm again! Her name's actually Hildigunnur and Njáll wants to marry Höskuldur to her. Problem? She wants a priest. Problem? No one's selling their priesthood. Wait wat.

So Njáll does what any considerate foster father would and ties up everyone's lawsuits into one huge ball of pre-war, calls a meeting and suggests they appoint more priests to keep things calm. Höskuldur gets his priesthood, marries grim Hildugunnur and all is keikaku doori once again.

Lýtingur hates Höskuldur Njálsrealson and tells Höskuldur Njálsfosterson to go kill him. Höskuldur's all "um, no" and so are everyone else, but Lýtingur hates Höskuldur even so because his wife's sister to Þráinn and even though everyone else got paid for his death NO ONE PAID LÝTINGUR A PENNY. OPPRESSION.

Höskuldur Njálsrealson gets done by Lýtingur's brothers and a couple of other gentlemen but still his mum (Njáll's previous wife), Hróðný, says he's not quite dead as long as his head is on. That he's not breathing is just a detail. So she gets him carried to Njáll's place and Bergþóra, Njáll's current wife, teams up with her and together they pretty much tear everybody a new one.

Njáll's remaining sons go chop Lýtingur's brothers for good and Lýtingur himself a bit, and this in vikingland means Lýtingur's clearly in the wrong of things and gets seriously heavy fines.
